Our friends loaned us the use of a double kayak so we launched it off their grassy back lawn. The day was incredible with billowing clouds and glorious sun. Not having kayaked ever before but thinking “how difficult can this be”, I kept up with every stroke brimming with enthusiasm and gusto. Two years later my shoulder is only now healing. A very expensive memory but to be honest I’m so glad I didn’t miss it. Next time I think I’ll lean back and relax a bit more.
